Julia is a Children’s counsellor who uses a creative and play-based approach to support children to express themselves and to explore and process their feelings, thoughts and experiences. She also supports and collaborates with parents and carers through the counselling journey, assisting them to understand and respond to their child in new and helpful ways.

Julia is a qualified, registered Art Therapist and has worked with children and families for over a decade across a range of roles and settings. As well as providing counselling, she develops and delivers professional development training to practitioners throughout Victoria, on working with children and young people who have experienced family violence.

Julia can support children and their families with a range of issues, including where a child has experienced loss or trauma; where there are challenging behaviours; worries, fears or anxieties; difficulty separating from parents; problems with eating or sleeping; aggression or withdrawal; difficulty concentrating at school, or; conflict in friendships or family relationships.

Julia prioritises building trust, connection and safety with her clients, working in a way that helps children and families feel valued, seen and heard. She is warm, deeply empathic, has a calm presence and always treats clients with dignity and respect. Julia welcomes all families, and is particularly passionate about supporting rainbow and foster families.

Julia is currently available for appointments on Saturdays. Julia takes referrals from organisations as well as directly from families and is not covered by Medicare.
